Bucharest and TTR Oxford within international research and demonstration projects funded by the European Commission under the 4-th and 5-th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development: QUATTRO, TOSCA, TRANSPLUS. I.C. was a full partner in the TRANSPLUS-ACCESS Project, an EC supported project under the "City of Tomorrow and Cultural Heritage" key action, which is one of the four key actions under the Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development research programme, in the ALTAIR Project and in the RAISE Project. |

This national institution for transport research and development, established in 1958, holds no interests in any commercial, manufacturing or supplying organisation. The Institute is multidisciplinary with a rich variety of academic backgrounds, including engineers, economists, sociologists and geographers. The main objective of the Institute is to carry out applied research on issues related to transport, and to promote the application of research results by advising government authorities, the transport industry and the public at large. Its sphere of activity includes most of current issues in road, rail, sea and air transport, as well as urban transport, environmental issues and traffic safety. In recent years, the Institute has been engaged in more than 50 research projects under the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Framework Programmes. In addition, several studies have been carried out in developing countries financed by the Norwegian Agency for Development Co-operation (NORAD), the World Bank and other development agencies. |

Founded in 1836, NTUA is an institution of higher education, as well as a centre of analytical, experimental and applied scientific research. The teaching and research staff of the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering have wide scientific and practical experience in Greece and abroad, act as advisers to the government, consulting firms, transport authorities etc., and contribute to important technical and professional committees. The Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering has been involved as a member of the consortium or as a co-ordinator in various relevant research projects financed by the European Commission such as, FREEMED, MEDA TEN-T, STELLA, SPIN, TRANSTALK, RECORDIT, SCENES, MAESTRO, EUNET, TENASSESS, SIMET, MEDINTRADE, and others. |

Created in 1985, INRETS is a state-financed scientific and technological body having five key issues at the heart of its research: leisure and tourism mobility, road safety, transport networks and services, driving aids (information, assistance, automation) and transport and environmental projection. Research activities in the field of transport and tourism are mainly carried out in the Department of Transport Economy and Sociology and Laboratory of city, mobility and transport which deal with economic, social, political problems linked to transport. INRETS has developed a far-reaching network of collaborative schemes, specifically in Europe and the OECD zone, through a major involvement in the European framework programmes and the COST actions. In 2001, INRETS took the initiative of setting up a group that brought together the main European research institutes concerned with surface transport: ECTRI. |
